In 1853 Jackson married Elinor "Ellie" Junkin however she died from complications of childbirth in 1854. In 1857 he married Mary Anna Morrison from North Carolina. Jackson and his second wife remained married until his death in 1863. Jackson's only child from his first marriage was stillborn and his first child (of two) from his second marriage died in infancy. Jackson's only surviving child, a daughter named Julia, died in her mid-20s however she did survive long enough to marry and have children. Through her, numerous descendents of the Civil War general are alive today.
