Most people stayed at home, unless, of course, they were actually bombed out of their homes. Some people moved out of London during the Blitz, preferring to commute to their work from the surrounding county areas.

The United Kingdom was used as a staging area for both bombing raids on Germany and the D-Day invasion. The US soldier that participated in these activities stayed in quarters there because that was where they worked at the time.

Bovingdon 1 CCRC

Mullaghmore 6 CCRC

The land forces were further spread
Warwickshire and Worcestershire
Leominster
US Replacement Depot at Pheasey Farms Estate in Great Barr, Birmingham
Tot Hill north of Southampton
Swansea (Mumbles) in South Wales,
Brecon
Malvern
Scottish Borders
Sutton Coldfield
Hampshire
Dover
Norfolk
Oxford Borders

The British women lived in the closet during ww2 as did the men but they eventually came out and everyone excepted them except Hitler cause he killed them
