∙ 14y agoMerce Cunningham's dance style varied. He didn't believe in having the dance rely on the music nor the music rely on the dance. Most of the time he flipped a coin and had each side of the coin represent an element of the performance he may add in. He worked with John Cage, his music producer/life partner, who's interest in Zen Buddhism influenced on the works of Merce.
