Francois and Louis Verendrye are believed to be the first Europeans to explore Wyoming in 1743.
John Colter explored Wyoming in 1807, including the area which would become Yellowstone National Park.
For the US it was John Colter (who split off the Lewis & Clark expedition on the way back). He reported on what is now called Yellowstone, nobody believed him and they called the place "Colter's Hell", considering it just tall tales.
But obviously other explorers must have been there earlier.
