∙ 8y agoFor the US it was John Colter (who split off the Lewis & Clark expedition on the way back). He reported on what is now called Yellowstone, nobody believed him and they called the place "Colter's Hell", considering it just tall tales.
But obviously other explorers must have been there earlier.
