Reverend Parris does. This sets up the entire plot because Parris and Abigail feed the entire witch hunt; Parris does it to keep society from finding out about the girls and ruining his reputation and Abby does it to gain importance and to get back at those who crossed her.

Betty Parris only pretends to be ill in the first act of the play, 'The Crucible'. She does so after her father Rev. Samuel Parris finds her and a cousin, Abigail dancing in the forest, along with Tituba, a slave. With her feigned illness cries of witchcraft evolve in the town, causing innocent people to be put to death.
The Crucible is a play by Arthur Miller about the story of the Salem Witch Trials that took place during 1692 and 1693. It opens with a group of girls dancing nude in the woods at night around a boiling pot of witches' brew. Reverend Parris finds them, and his 10 year old daughter, Betty Parris, faints upon his finding.
Elizabeth is John Proctor's wife in The Crucible. Elizabeth is a loyal wife who tells John to follow whatever course of action he wishes to take. Also, Elizabeth is unforgiving to John at the start of the play, because she finds out that John had had an affair with their serving girl, Abigail Williams. However, at the end of the play, Elizabeth is loyal to John and she confesses his love for him. When she finds out about the affair, Elizabeth instantly sacks Abigail. Elizabeth and John's relationship is described by Arthur Miller (the author of The Crucible) as 'cold and bitter'. Elizabeth and John are in a marriage where they are not suited to one another. Also, Elizabeth blames herself for being 'emotionally cool'. She doesn't have the same passionate nature as John.
In The Crucible, Elizabeth finds out that Abigail wants her dead after she is accused of witchcraft. Abigail wants to have Elizabeth's husband John.
Because they have a warrant for her arrest. Cheever asks if Elizabeth owns any dolls, and Elizabeth replies that she has not owned dolls since she was a girl. Cheever spies the doll Mary Warren gave her. He finds a needle inside it. Cheever relates that Abigail had a fit at dinner in Parris's house that evening. Parris found a needle in her abdomen, and Abigail accused Elizabeth of witchcraft.
It finds food in the forest and finds water at lakes or rivers.
in 1929, the stock market plummeted. His family had to move to an appartment. Got married for the first time in 1940. In 1949, he wrote Death of a Salesman. This is his most famous play. 1951 he meets Marilyn Monroe. In 1953, The Crucible opened on Broadway and he hates McCarthyism. In 1956, Miller divorces his first wife and Marries Marilyn Monroe. In 1957, a judge finds Miller guilty of contempt of Congress. Later the judge overturns Miller's conviction. in 1961, The Misfits airs and Monroe was starring in it. Shortly after the movie aired, Miller and Monroe divorced. In 1962, Miller marries Inge Morath for his third marriage. In September of 1962, his third wife has a kid. In 1966, Miller had a son that was born with down syndrome and he sends him to a constitution. In 2002, Inge Morath dies of lymphatic cancer. On February 10, 2005, Arthur miller dies at 89.
