The person who inscribed the Rosetta Stone (which was used by Joan Francés Champolion in modern times to break the code for translating hieroglyphics) must be credited with the first documented proof for translating hieroglyphics.

The Rosetta Stone is a Ptolemaic era stele with carved text made up of three translations of a single passage: two in Egyptian language scripts (hieroglyphic and Demotic) and one in classical Greek. It was created in 196 BCE.

You are clearly very confused. Hieroglyphs is the modern name for the ancient Egyptian writing system, not the language that it represents. Hieroglyphs were used to write the Old Egyptian, Middle Egyptian and Late Egyptian languages which were spoken by the population of Egypt from prehistoric times up to the Arab conquest.

Most texts, such as those in the tombs of Nefertari and Tutankhamun, are written in Middle Egyptian.

So nobody spoke hieroglyphs - they spoke Egyptian and the scribes wrote hieroglyphs.

Well the demotic writing was a much simpler form of writing used by the ancient Egyptians making it easier to translate it. Hieroglyphics were used only for documents making it harder to understand them. However Jean Champollion was able to translate the Rosetta Stone which had hieroglyphics, demotic and Greek.
