People enlist in the Marines for one of four reasons:
All the other branches have technical jobs that require specialized training and all others want you to continue your education and get something out of being a Soldier, Sailor or Airmen.
It's going to depend on what exactly you do in either branch. Army infantry would train harder than a Navy admin clerk would, naturally, but certainly not harder than the Navy SEALs, and the Navy has a pretty good share of jobs which are both physically challenging and require mechanical skill. I doubt anything in the Army would be comparable to being a crew member on a nuclear sub, for example. That kind of environment presents its own challenges.
Although I am a U.S.Army veteran I tend to believe the US Marine Corps is the tougher of the two.
Marine boot camp is harder!!!!

Not when I went in the Army in 1967. Did 10 weeks training with
a Special Forces CO. Had an ex-Marine in our unit to serve in the
Army Reserve. In the fourth week he told me it was worse than his
Marine training. I was surprised he said that.
That would be an opinion. However, Marine training "is tougher" in some ways, such as swimming, but the Army training is tougher in other ways, too. Hope this helps :D
No, that skill was reserved for Marine Recruits,
The Navy and Army's basic training is 8 weeks long. Air force is 6 weeks, and Marine Corps is 13 weeks.
No, you do not. The Marines is the only branch of Service that the US Army accepts people without going through any form of introduction training.
no their is not such a thing as an ex marine or army men! There is a saying, "You can take the boy out of the service, but you can't take the service out of the boy." Substitute "army" or "Marines" for "service." The reality of this is that military training is such that the person who reports to Basic Training is not the person who leaves; the soldier and Marine are made into a new person with new perceptions and abilities.
No, only marine recruits shoot from 500 yards out. it is one of the many skills that separate a marine from any other branch
Both receive excellent training. Marine training is considered to be more intense and lasts longer. Even Marine pilots receive training in the Basic school for six months to insure that every Marine is first off, a Rifleman.
Yes. All enlisted Marines must complete boot-camp and either school of infantry or Marine combat training, regardless of previous service in another branch.
Marines don't go through Basic Training - they go through Boot Camp. The Army does accept prior service enlistees without requiring them to go through Basic Combat Training. However, one may be required to attend BCT if their break in service exceeds a certain period of time. Additionally, they may have to attend Advanced Individual Training (AIT) to become qualified for their selected occupation in the Army if their previous occupation in the Marine Corps was not parallel to it.
Basic training for the Army takes 9 weeks. Advanced individual training can last an additional 6 weeks to 1 year! The Army have 5 different locations for basic training.
Most of training is mostly exercising and gun training. You will be doing a lot of running weights courses, drills and gun training during the Army basic training.
