Gavrilo Princip was not hired to kill Archduke Ferdinand. He was a Serbian nationalist and separatist who was part of the organization known as the Black Hand.
Gavrilo Princip, using a FN Browning model 1910 32 caliber pistol, shot Franz Ferdinand. It was almost dumb luck that the bullet struck the archduke in the next causing him to bleed to death.
Two on the same day. The second one worked.
In Sarajevo, then in Serbia, now capital of Bosnia-Hercegovina.
The person to blame was the driver of Franz Ferdinand's because he turned the wrong way which made the person from the black hand gang pull out a gun and shoot 2 bullets ware fired and the bullets hit his wife and him. -I think that the driver was a member of the Black hand gang The driver did not make a wrong turn. Archduke Ferdinand ordered him to drive to the hospital to visit the people who had been injured in the shooting early that day that was meant to kill him. The least congested route brought him past the cafe where Gavrilo Princip, the man who killed Ferdinand and who can actually be blamed, was eating. Princip acted to complete the mission he was there for and fired. Only the Black Hand members who couldn't bring themselves to find a legal way to handle their nonexistent problems are at fault.
The assasination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand happened in Sarajevo.Gravilo Princip shot him and his wife.

Yes the Archduke was shot. He was killed by Gavrilo Princip (check the spelling). He was a Serbian nationalist that was order by Germany to kill the Archduke. He was kiled at the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo.
My research indicates it was a Nagent revolver, Model 1895, in 7.62mm (.30 caliber).
Gavrilo Princip shot Ferdinand and his wife with a Fabrique Nationale model 1910 32ACP pistol. There is a picture of this type of pistol at the related link below.
Gavrilo Princip was a member of the Black Hand, a a Serbian underground resistance group opposed to Austro-Hungarian government and it's occupation of Serbia. They did not want to be part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and they did not want to pay taxes to them. There is also some indication he had a personal dislike for the Archduke. Princip had tuberculosis and knew he was going to die soon. He assassinated the Archduke as a final act of "patriotism" believeing he would not live long enough to receive punishment.
The Serbian government provided the weapons that the Black Hand used to attempt to assassinate Ferdinand/the gun that Princip used to kill Ferdinand.

Gavrilo Princip who was a member of a gang called "The Black Hand." He plotted with other gang members to kill the Archduke but when plans failed he went to eats a sandwhich. Ironically the motor vehicle carrying the Archduke and his wife Sophie had passed the sandwhich shop where Gavrilo then pulled out a pistol and shot them both.
