I believe that it remains Paul Thorburn - 1986, the penalty taken against Scotland in the Cardiff Arms Park (Original National Stadium) . The kick measured exactly 70 Yards and 8 and a half inches. There is an other similar one here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_longest_drop_kick_ever_in_rugby François Steyn did a 60 meters one that went far away after the posts. Whilst this drop kick is a record this means that Steyn holds the drop goal record of 60…
The longest penalty kick in rugby history, a record still standing. This occured in 1986, the penalty taken by Paul Thorburn against Scotland in the Cardiff Arms Park. This kick measured exactly 70 Yards and 8 and a half inches. however, The longest recorded successful drop goal is 77.7m (85yd) by Gerald Hamilton `Gerry' Brand (b. 8 Oct 1906) for South Africa v. England at Twickenham, Greater London, on 2 Jan 1932
The record was set at nearly 110 yards more than a Century ago by Alan Thurgood of Essendon Football Club, using a place kick - which surprisingly, is never used these days. In terms of how far people tend to kick, most now use the drop punt, and most AFL players tend to send the ball over 50 metres when kicking for goal now.
The football is a ball made out of leather with laces in the middle. The laces in the middle are for grip when you throw the ball. When you throw the ball a good pass is when it spirals. You could also kick the football which is planted on a tea except on field goals. That is when someone holds the ball for you. P.S. Please comment!!!!! Answer Improve by Filly309
