Who invented modern ovens?
The domestic gas oven introduced by the English firm of Smith and Phillips is one of the first such ovens to be put on the market in an age of coal and wood stoves(1855). Cooking fuel is so costly that hot meals are prepared only two or three times a week in most British homes, but gas ovens will no…t come into common use for another 20 years. This answer comes directly from The Food Chronology by James Trager ( Full Answer )
The first stove-oven was invented by Robert Yeaman in 1345. The earliest ovens were found in Central Europe, and dated to29,000 BC. They were used as roasting and boiling pits locatedwithin yurt structures. The oven provided a way to bake bread, which became a staple food during the earliest civiliz…ations. ( Full Answer )
Christopher Latham Sholes invented the first working typewriter in 1873 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The unit is on display at the Middle school I went to named after him. He introduced the qwerty keyboard to speed typing also.
Ovens have been used since ancient times, clay, brick, and stoneovens were being used before history was written. The first modernover was made by Arthur Leslie Large in 1922. See the links belowfor a history and progress of inventors of ovens.
Percy Spencer, the engineer who came up with the idea for the microwave oven, was working for Raytheon Company in Waltham, Massachusetts , at the time he got the idea. This device, which Raytheon patented on October 8, 1945, appeared in 1947. The "Radarange" was a monster; it was about six feet t…all and weighed over 700 pounds. Further information: Percy LeBaron Spencer is considered to be the inventor of the microwave oven. He was working as an engineer with the Raytheon company when he was experimenting with and testing a magnetron. The magnetron had already been invented during WWII and allowed the Allies to determine the exact locations of Nazi war machines and arsenals, as the magnetron produced microwaves which radar then bounced off the arsenals, and back to the Allies. It was while testing the magnetron following the war, that Dr Spencer reached into his pocket for his chocolate bar, and discovered it had completely melted. He made the connection between the melted chocolate and the heat-producing magnetron, and tested his theory on a bag of unpopped corn kernels, which then popped. Next, he placed an egg in front of the magnetron. The egg exploded. Dr Spencer is therefore credited with discovering one of the critical components of the microwave oven. Development of the microwave oven grew out of his observations, and by 1947 a commercial oven was being sold by Raytheon. ( Full Answer )
Cooking food with microwaves was discovered by Percy Spencer while building magnetrons for rader sets at Raytheon. He was working on an active radar set when he noticed a strange sensation, and saw that a peanut chocolate bar he had in his pocket started to melt. Although he was not the first to not…ice this phenomenon, as the holder of 120 patents, Spencer was no stranger to discovery and experiment, and realized what was happening. The radar had melted his candy bar with microwaves.. That was a quote from the Wikipedia article. A link is provided. ( Full Answer )

Over 5,000 years ago man developed means of cooking. All theancient societies had ovens. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ While the first record of an oven being built was in 1490 inAlsace, France, Jordan Mott invented the first coal oven in …1833,and British inventor James Sharp patented the first gas oven in1826. The first patent for an electric oven was issued to ThomasHadaway in 1896. Ancient Greeks cooked bread in simple ovens, whiletall brick and mortar hearths with chimneys were constructed in theMiddle Ages. Cast iron ovens surfaced around 1728. Several moreinnovations in coal, kerosene and gas ovens came to light prior tothe electric oven. Despite Hadaway's patent, some historians creditCanadian Thomas Ahearn for creating the first electric oven in1882. However, the Ahearn oven wasn't officially put in serviceuntil 1892 inside the Windsor Hotel of Ottawa. ( Full Answer )
Electric ovens were invented before the 1900s, but they did notbecome prominent until the late 1920s. This is around the time thatelectricity technology improved.

The Easy-Bake Oven is a working toy oven introduced by Kenner in 1963, and currently manufactured by Hasbro
Healthier. Probably not much different, except there was obviously no such items that were made specifically for microwaves. They probably just cooked on a stove or over a fire; I would prefer a homemade meal over a microwaveable one any day.
Like many of today's great inventions, the microwave oven was a by-product of another technology. It was during a radar-related research project around 1946 that Dr. Percy Spencer, a self-taught engineer with the Raytheon Corporation, noticed something very unusual. He was testing a new vacuum tube …called a magnetron (we are searching for a picture of an actual 1946 magnetron), when he discovered that the candy bar in his pocket had melted. This intrigued Dr. Spencer, so he tried another experiment. This time he placed some popcorn kernels near the tube and, perhaps standing a little farther away, he watched with an inventive sparkle in his eye as the popcorn sputtered, cracked and popped all over his lab.. The next morning, Scientist Spencer decided to put the magnetron tube near an egg. Spencer was joined by a curious colleague, and they both watched as the egg began to tremor and quake. The rapid temperature rise within the egg was causing tremendous internal pressure. Evidently the curious colleague moved in for a closer look just as the egg exploded and splattered hot yolk all over his amazed face. The face of Spencer lit up with a logical scientific conclusion: the melted candy bar, the popcorn, and now the exploding egg, were all attributable to exposure to low-density microwave energy. Thus, if an egg can be cooked that quickly, why not other foods? Experimentation began... Dr. Spencer fashioned a metal box with an opening into which he fed microwave power. The energy entering the box was unable to escape, thereby creating a higher density electromagnetic field. When food was placed in the box and microwave energy fed in, the temperature of the food rose very rapidly. Dr. Spencer had invented what was to revolutionize cooking, and form the basis of a multimillion dollar industry, the microwave oven. ( Full Answer )

An advantage of modern invention would be that a new product mightmake life easier for people. A disadvantage of modern invention isthat people can misuse the invention. Texting is a prime example ofmisuse of an invention. Texting and driving is very dangerous.
Anaesthesia image source With the discovery "anaesthesia", people conquered pain. It made some of the most dangerous medical operations to be possible without further hurting the patient. The term was coined by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. in the year 1846. The original definition of this term is "t…he blockage of sensation" but could also be defined as, "reversible lack of awareness". Actually, anaesthesia was already used in the pre-historic times. Even in the year 4200 B.C., opium poppy was collected to make it as a herbal anesthesia. ( Full Answer )

Microwave Oven: The microwave oven was invented accidentally (did you ever notice that most great inventions or occurrences are accidents? 8>0 ) by Percy Spencer in Waltham, Massachusetts. Spencer was actually given the task of making magnetrons for radar sets for the Raytheon company, and he gave… a microwave to them instead! The first microwave oven was presented to the public by the Raytheon Company in 1947, and it was a bulkier, much more energy consuming device that the modern one today, weighing 700 pounds! The ovens weren't very popular in the '50s and '60s, but in the early '70s, they sold faster than ice cream on a blazing day! In 1975, one MILLION microwaves were sold!! Typewriter: The first useful typewriter was made by Christopher Latham Sholes in 1868. ( Full Answer )
