I have found that the Corinthian Order of column has on it the Acanthus leaf. This is one of the oldest Mediterranean flowers and represents long, enduring life.
Also, in Christianity, the thorny leaf of the Acanthus flower was known to represent pain, sin, and punishment (due to Christianity trying to get attention away from the looking toward several gods).
In Mediterranean countries, it represents immortality
(sorry for the spelling errors)
The Greeks invented different types of columns known as Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns. In architecture, columns are vertical pillar used for support of structures or buildings. The Doric column design, which is evident in the Parthenon, dates back to seventh century B.C. Dating back to 6th century B.C., the Doric column has a molded base. The Corinthian column, which dates back to around 4th century B.C., was the most ornate type of column with spirals and leaf shapes
The ancient Greeks knew that columns standing in a long row often looked as though they curved in the middle. To prevent this optical illusion, they made their columns bulge slightly in the middle. As a result, Greek columns look perfectly straight.
To support the structure of formal buildings. It was not invented, it was copied from the columns in Egypt, but used different decorative effects.
