An elder ninja of Konoha, Danzou was a war hawk who operated in opposition to Sandaime Hokage. Within the ANBU corps, he created and led the training division known as "Ne" or root, which was detached from the main ANBU. The Root group was disbanded and he lost his position. He still is a power player though, with his own influence within the village.

He was also against all what sarutobi stood for like he sent out sai to kill sasuke because he was a threat to konoha(he has harsh judgment but at the same time he is looking out for konoha).

i think danzou is kakashis old best friend from his old squad when he was a kid because kakashi took his sharingan from his believed dead friend from the left eye and danzou has only a sharingan in his right eye. or danzou found kakashis fiend dead and saw that a sharingan was gone and thought a ninja took it and implanted it in their own eye and did the same.

Danzo commanded Itachi to ambush all Uchiha because all of the Uchiha clan eyes has placed on Danzo's right arm and another one on his right eye.I get the info on manga because I'm a reader!!!

From Mrm64: If you ask me...Danzo is NOT obito. Danzo is FAR older than kakashi, and last i saw, obito and kakashi were the same age. Obito could be madera's brother, think about it. His eye is bandaged. mabey because madera took one of his eyes...Eho knows?

Danzo or Lord Danzo is the head/leader of ANBU Root. ANBU Root is a smaller part of the Konoha ANBU. Danzo is Sai's personal teacher other than Kakashi Sensei. Danzo was also the one to teach Sai without any emotion. He wanted to become the Hokage but Hiruzen (3rd Hokage) took his place. He had a rivalry against Hiruzen. Lord Danzo will protect Konoha at the cost of his own life if he has to. Technically, Lord Danzo is a good guy throughout Naruto Shippuden. Tsunade has a grudge against him and occasionally sends ANBU members to check on him often.
