Franklin Roosevelt has been credited with saving the European and Western world with his bold decisions and actions. Had he not sent the majority of the US Forces to Europe the world we live in today would likely not exist as it does now. Winston Churchill had the fortitude to beg for help from the US. He too was a brilliant man who can be credited with saving the United Kingdom. Roosevelt pushed the US people to go beyond any before known effort to produce armament, ships, planes, weapons, supplies, and food products for both the warriors and the people of England. He faced the hard decision to spend the money on the research and development of the atomic bomb which also contributed to the development of nuclear energy in ships, submarines and for electricity. Roosevelt had been able to conduct war on two sides of the world in the most economical way, with the least amount of lives lost and still have enough to help the countries who had been leveled by the war. Had it been another president running things the war would not have turned out as well as it did under Roosevelt.

He was the President and so the Commander-in-Chief during most of the war. .

He initiated the Lend-Lease act to supply arms to Britain on credit, a move that was likely to draw us into war before long. There is some evidence that he baited Japan into an attack on Pearl Harbor that put the country in support of going to war, but it is not likely that he foresaw how much damage they could do to the Pacific fleet. At any rate, he made a stirring speech to Congress to ask for a declaration of war and got what he asked for.
