Minato Namikaze is Kushina Uzumaki's husband and the father of Naruto. He is the Fourth Hokage of Konohakagure.
Minato sealed the rampaging Nine-Tailed Demon Fox within his son, sacrificing his own life to do so, though he purposely did not completely seal all of the fox's chakra, leaving a good bit for naruto to "play with". Minato had also sealed a little bit of his chakra into his son, if in case there was a day Naruto would reach the ninth tail during battle. Other than his own chakra, he had also sealed most of Kushina's chakras into him for the day Naruto decides to 'control' the kyubi.
He was known as the Yellow Flash of Konoha, also known as the Village Hidden in the Leaves, because of his Flying Thunder God Technique, which allows himself to move himself to another location in the blink of an eye.
Minato is one of the strongest ninjas ever to be born in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Minato Namikaze created a very powerful technique called the Rasengan because he wanted a technique that did not require seals, which it doesn't, though he planned to add a wind element to it, but he passed away before he had the chance to fully develop it. Before the event of the Nine-tails which took his life for sealing the Kyubi into his newborn son, Minato actually taught Kakashi the Rasengan. When Kakashi learned that it is meant to be mixed with an element, Kakashi tried to mix lightning with it but it didn't work (which is how he created Chidori) and improved it to be what is now known to be Lightning Blade (Raikiri).
