The star 61 Cygni had its distance measured by Friedrich Bessel in 1838. He found a distance of 10.3 light years, close to the modern value of 11.4 light years. This was the first time a star's distance was measured.
The method used was to measure the star's parallax, the slight movement seen against the background of more distant stars caused by the Earth's motion around the Sun.
Friedrich Bessel Bessel is credited with being the first to use parallax in calculating the distance to a star
Edmund Hillary from New Zealand was the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest, he did so on the 29th May 1953.
Danish astronomer, Olaus Roemer, was the first person to successfully measure the speed of light in 1676. He based his observations on the eclipses of the moons of Jupiter. Many believe Galileo was the first to measure light, but this is false. Galileo tried, but his experiment failed to provide a correct calculation.
Edmund Hillary, a climber from New Zealand was the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest, he did so on the 29th May 1953.
Radakanth Sikder was the first person to measure the height of Mount Everest
Christiaan Neethling Barnard (1922-2001) was the first person to transplant human heart successfully.
i think Alexander bell
He was the first person to cross the English Channel successfully
The first person to fly successfully was Gustav Whitehead in 1902 . Unfortunately he did not have any publicity and has been largely ignored.
Daniel Hale was the first surgeon to successfully operate on the human heart.
One person holds the gun and the stopwatch. The other person walks away, unrolling the tape measure ast they go - and stops at an agreed distance. The first person fires the gun - and starts the stopwatch. The second person signals when they hear the shot - and the stopwatch is halted. Divide the time taken for the shot to be heard by the measured distance - and you have the speed of sound.
It is easier to write in first person. It doesn't require a narrative distance .
because he was the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest
Annie Taylor in a barrel, 1901
Robert H. Goddard was the one to build the first ever liquid fuel rocket in the history of man. He also successfully launched it.
Let's say we want to measure the distance between objects A and B. First, we measure the distance from the Earth(point E) to these objects(using Doppler-shifts).Then, we measure the angle AEB.We now know the lengths of two sides, and the angle between them. That's how we find the distance AB.
In a standard softball field, the distance from home plate to first base is 60 feet. To physically measure this distance, we use a long, windup tape measure. Note: The distance between any of the bases is 60 feet. From the tip of home plate to the far side or back of the 1st base bag.
