The heaviest death metal band would have to be Morbid Angel or Deicide. White Chapel is not death metal they are metalcore. Same musical structure but Death Metal is much more difficult, it requires a lot more skill than what metalcore bands could ever require. You should listen to Suffocation and Skinless as well.

All others are baby heavy. Even from the 70s till now they have the most album copies sold till date. No other heavy metal band has achieved that.
Using music technologies of that decade, they could achieve this much.
Bands of today just scream like in death metal, no words, no beat, no heavy guitar like Jimmy page of Led Zeppelin.
There is no comparison to the pioneer of heavy metals- Led Zeppelin.
Ummm, we're talking about heaviness of sound, not money, but yes, they're the founders of Heavy Metal, but nowadays, I'd say the heaviest heavy metal was Pantera, but now that all the death metal came out, it's hard to tell, and even if they don't have rhythm or beat or whatever, they're still heavy; heaviness isn't measures in that, but by the aggression of the sound

the heaviest band i have ever come across is anal c***, they are much, much heavier than cannibal corpse or darkthrone. however they are complete c**** and deserve to die because of what they sing about. i hope that helps you.

∙ 14y agoThat's all subject to oppinion, but Death, one of the first thrash metal bands, is considered one of the heaviest. That is not right, Meshuggah and Deicide are way heavier.

I recently came across this band. Their name is The Berzerker and they hail from Australia. This is the fastest shredding band I have ever heard. They are twice as heavy as Slipknot and 4 times as fast. You can check them out on MySpace. I think they are the heaviest band I've ever heard and I've been a Metalhead for over 30 years( I'm 51 years old). The heaviest heavy metal genre is death metal and black metal or a subgenre of them such as brutal death metal. Doom metal as well can be quite heavy - especially funeral doom or death/doom which is often slower and "thick" sounding kind of heavy. I think Berzerker is fast and chaotic but fastest doesn't mean heaviest. It is all anyone's game as to what band plays the heaviest metal music and in the end all comes down to personal preference.
