Oahu's current mayor is Kirk Caldwell (D). He has been the acting mayor of the City and County of Honolulu (Oahu) since former mayor Mufi Hannemann (D) resigned in April to run for governor of Hawaii. Oahu had a special election for mayor in September to decide who would complete Mufi Hannemann's remaining 2 years. Peter Carlisle won the election and is due to be sworn in on October 22nd.
