The most recent that I could find would be Kristen Gilbert. Convicted of two first degree murder charges and three second degree murder charges. Gilbert, an RN, was injecting patients to cause heart failure. Finally arrested in 1996, she is now serving multilple life sentences in a federal prison in Texas.
*Point of interest:Gilbert was born in Fall River, MA, hometown of Lizzie Borden.
Here are two from 2014:

That honor would go to Aileen Wuornos who was executed in Florida for the murder of at least 7 men.
Wuornos is indeed famous, mostly because she was popular among feminists. Yet Elizabeth Bathory is more famous worldwide and was a much worse criminal (most of her hundreds of victims were female). Take a look at "Female Serial Killers of 19th Century America" to get an idea of famous American female serial killers of the past. There were lots of them.
Technically, Mary Bell would be the shortest female serial killer, who was only 10 when she murdered her 3 year old cousin, followed very soon by other children telling tails of Mary trying to strangle them. Look up "Serial Killer Girls" (online) and you will find other young girls who where serial murderers.
Martha Beck, aka Lonely Hearts Killer with male companion Ray Fernandez, was short in stature (around 5') but weighed in at about 300 lbs. Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde fame, although not listed as a serial killer, was only 4' 11" tall.
The most famous serial killer to me is Mary Bell, because she started in her crimes at 10 years of age.
The most famous serial killer is arguably Jack the Ripper, in part because the mystery of his identity has remained unsolved for over two centuries. But the most famous killer of all would have to be the first murderer, the biblical Cain who slew his brother Abel and introduced sorrow into the world.
Absolutely not. An alcoholic craves alcohol. A serial killer craves power. Some serial killers abuse alcohol and/or drugs but most do not.
America's Most Wanted - 1988 L-A- Serial Killer was released on: USA: 8 November 2008
The most infamous John Fraser was a serial killer who lived in Australia. Other less violent but still famous John Frasers were a Scottish botanist and a Scottish football player.
This is new to me. Now that I think about it, there is one of those in history, Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed was a countess from the renowned Báthory family. Although in modern times she has been labeled the most prolific female serial killer in history. She killed to be bathed in his victims blood because it will keep her younger.
Carl Panzram was the United States most sadistic serial killer convicted of 21 murders and over 100 cases of rape all he plead guilty to.
most likely the death penalty.
Without a doubt, Jack The Ripper.
keiko(willy) was the worlds most famous killer whale
Although there are others that have more victims and this could be subject to a person's opinion, Jack The Ripper still remains the most well known serial killer of all time. In second place would be Ted Bundy.
The Hillside Stranglers Kenneth Bianci and his cousin Angelo Buono, Leonard Lake and Charles Ng, Charles Starkweather and Carol Fugate, these are probably the best known.
