- Richard Daniel Tuchscherer was born in August 1928, and is a US Navy veteran of WW2 born in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He served 28 years, seeing action in Korea and Vietnam. He retired a lieutenant commander.
- James Willoughby Lee III enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II at 15 by lying about his age. He was born February 22, 1928, and served in the Pacific Theater as a tail gunner. He is also a descendent of Robert E Lee, the American Civil War General.
- There was another man who enlisted at the age of 13 named John Rodgers. He passed away in 1992.

∙ 12y agoIt depends on how old they were at the time of the war. If we assume that all soldiers were at least 16, and that they enlisted just before the end of the war, then they would have to have been born in 1929 or before. In 2011, that would make them at least 82. The majority would have been over 18, which would put them at minimum in their mid-80s. Some soldiers, of course, would have been older.

Try the American Legion or Veteran's of Foreign War chapters in your area. There are still a few of the old vets still living. And if you can get a couple of them talking together, they will surely start swapping stories and trying to out do each other. At that point, just sit back and listen! Don't be surprised if they are reluctant to talk about the war, so the article you are writing or a book had better be interesting and correct to get them to talk. Another option is to visit a Veteran's Nursing Home.
