Africa is not a country. Africa is the second largest and second most populous continent in the world (after Asia on both counts).

Africa is a multi-national, multi-ethnic, and multi-lingual continent. There are over a billion people located in 53 countries. The countries are: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethipoia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Africa has played a vital role in many different parts of history, from the birth of humanity to the time of the Roman Empire right through to today's revolts and revolutions across Northern Africa.

There are many leaders of the many different countries of Africa, but there is not one individual or government who leads all 53 countries.
