Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India in 2010. He became the 13th Prime Minister of India on 2004 May 22. Singh is an economist and held the positions of Governor of the Reserve Bank and Minister of Finance before becoming the Prime Minister. In the last 20 years, he has helped India undergo globalization, opening up the Indian economy to foreign investment, and making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world after Singapore and Taiwan, but notably ahead of China (as measured by GDP growth rate). Singh is considered the most popular Prime Minister since Nehru, and was the first since Nehru to be re-elected as Prime Minister after a full five year term.

Gordon Brown was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at the beginning of 2010. David Cameron became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on May 11.

Gordon Brown was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 June 27 to 2010 May 10 as leader of the Labour Party. He took over for Blair who was forced to resign as a result of low approval ratings, the Iraq war being the most significant issue. Brown and the Labour Party were subsequently defeated in the 2010 election.

Cameron became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 2010 May 11 as leader of the Conservative Party. He had previously been the Right Honourable Leader of the Opposition from 2005 December 6 until he became prime minister.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland contains England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which each have First Ministers, excepting England.

This was General Election year; at the beginning of the year in was Gordon Brown, who had formerly been Chancellor to Tony Blair and took over when Blair was forced to resign in May '07. However, although a highly competent Chancellor, Brown proved to be weak and indecisive as Premier, and was voted out in the May election.

He was replaced by David Cameron, who headed a Coalition government of Conservatives and Liberal Democrats- although the Tories won the biggest share of the vote, they didn't secure enough seats to enable them to form a government by law. The Liberal Democrats were effectively the 'kingmakers' in the situation- had they chosen to support Labour, then it would have resulted in a LABOUR / Lib Dem coalition, with new Labour leader Ed Milliband as PM. But the Liberal Democrats could not agree with Labour over Lib Dem demands for electoral reform, so chose to support the Tories instead.

Cameron remains PM as of 2012- the next General Election is in 2014.
