Minnie Minoso was 54 years old in 1980, when he was brought back

for TWO GAMES in a publicity stunt by the Chicago White Sox.

Similarly, Satchel Paige (59), Charles O'Leary (58), Nick Altrock

(57), and Jimmy O'Rourke (54) all played token amounts in games

long after they retired.

Julio Franco, at age 49 in 2007, had 106 plate appearances

before retiring the next year. Jack Quinn was 50 when he was still

pitching on a regular basis in 1933. So, to me, the answer would be

Julio Franco UNLESS you count token appearances for purely

publicity purposes.
