Macbeth (d. August 15, 1057) is responsible for the defeat of the Thane of Cawdor in Act I of the play "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare (Baptized April 26, 1564 - April 23, 1616).
Specifically, Macbeth is one of two generals involved in the defense of King Duncan (d. August 14, 1040) against invading Norwegians and rebellious Scots. A leading role among the rebels is played by the Thane of Cawdor. He pays with his life and with the forfeit of his title and property to Macbeth.
In the play, it doesn't say. Indeed it is unlikely that Macbeth in the play did defeat Cawdor, since he is afterwards surprised by his treachery, which is quite impossible if he had met him face to face in battle and defeated him.
Shakespeare is fooling with the historical record in Act 1 of the play. Holinshed recounts three different incidents happening at different times: Macbeth and Banquo defeating Macdonweald in the north; Duncan and Malcolm defeating the King of Norway in Fife by poisoning them, whereupon Macbeth was sent for so he could kill them in their sleep; and the treachery of the thane of Cawdor. In Holinshed Cawdor was no part of the invasion of Fife by the Norwegians, and Macbeth had nothing to do with his defeat.
Macduff is the one who kills Macbeth in the Shakespeare play. Macduff kills Macbeth in single combat, seeking vengeance for Macbeth's murders, including the killing of Macduff's family.

In the play "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is killed in the final act by Macduff. Macduff reveals that he was not "of woman born" in the traditional sense, but was instead born by cesarean section, fulfilling the witches' prophecy that Macbeth would not be killed by any man born of a woman. This loophole allows Macduff to defeat Macbeth and ultimately kill him.

If you mean the character in Shakespeare's play, then this is what he did: He listened to the witches, killed Duncan the king of Scotland, then created a rebelion against him where Macbeth and Macduff fight to the death and Macbeth gets killed by Macduff, making Macduff's son Michael the king of Scotland.
