I have a Texas Ranger single barrel 12 gauge with a 36" barrel that has no serial numbering. I believe it to have been manufactured by Harrington & Richardson as their model 1908 up until 1928 for Montgomery Ward. This does not mean that later guns weren't manufactured by Stevens. It was quite common for retailers to shop the best deal from manufacturers and manufacturers to drop less profitable lines. There is also a Ranger that was marketed by Sears, Roebuck & Co. It came in a variety of types e.g. pump-action, semi-auto, etc.
