It's nigh impossible to say who invented the drum kit because it's evolved over more than a century.
Back in the late 1800's bands mostly had one person for each of the bass drum, snare drum, cymbal etc. When vaudeville got into its stride around 1900 and musicians played in the pit, there wasn't enough space for a bunch of percussionists, so they looked at playing more than one thing at a time. There was a patent for a bass drum pedal in 1888 which meant one person could play two things at the same time. By 1910 the Ludwig brothers had made a pedal with a spring and eventually one that could change from cymbal to bass drum using a switch. In 1918 Ludwig were marketing a drum kit which might have been the first commercial one. The kit evolved over time to what it is now, mostly because musicians are known for being inventive and changing things to suit themselves. So in one way you might say Ludwig but in truth it was a multitude of drummers who contributed to the existence of a drum kit.
Nobody in particular developed the drum kit as we know it today. It did however evolve from band pits at sporting events across Europe and the USA. Band pits became too small and drum players were given a snare drum and a bass drum, which was modified to work with a pedal. This already eliminated one person. Later hi-hats and cymbals were introduced. This setup evolved into quite a complex system of drums and cymbals and became a challenge to play. The drum kit/ drum set was born. Eventually the drum kit was used in commercial music.
I'm not much of a drummer, but I do know that for the best kits, you should buy different brands for different drums and cymbals. Zildjan makes the best cymbals, but Pearl makes the best bass drums, etc. Look for Remo heads on snares and for your toms. Do your research too! If you research what the best is, you'll have the best kit. Hope this helps!! :)
Eventually someone (I don't think it's possible to name one specific name) brought several pieces of a marching band together and made it static. That's the beginning of the drum kit.

I think that's the Mirage Monster by Mike Portnoy. http://www.mikeportnoy.com/drums/mirage/
There is the bass drum or kick drum which is on the floor that usually holds your toms and then there is the snare which is the center of the drum set. The snare is probably the most important drum in the whole set so it is known as the center of the drum set or kit
the difference between a drum kit and a drum machine is that a drum kit you perform naturally with your hands using sticks to change the pitch on whether it is high or low, and a drum machine is like a little electronic board where all you have to do is choose which percussion instrument you want and edit the way the rhythm sounds. personally i prefer the drum machine, much easier ;)a drum kit is an instrument that you can play. a drum machine is a computer that generates a drum track. drum machines are commonly used in techno and hip-hop.
Just go to the app store and type in drum or drum kit and a lot of free ones will pop up.
A drum kit that is very germy.
The Tama drum kit
There is no 'best' drum kit. Each brand and type of kit has its individual advantages.
Usually, a fourth tom is not included in the standard kit.
bass drum
There is no set price its what you want in a drum kit, make, size of kit, accessories etc.
You can find cymbals inside a drum kit. The number of cymbals is different in each drum kit, because there are different kinds of music. But all come with a Hi-hat unless it is only a drum kit with only drums.
