How do you change a 1991 Nissan 300zx shifter?

There is a web page that tells how to remove your old shifter and install a new, short-throw shifter. The procedure is the same if you are installing a regular shifter. http://www.zchickz.com/z32-shift1.htm This site is complete with photos and schematics. An even better schematic of the entire shifter assembly down to the transmission control rod can be found here: http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=mt&dir=&config=&refresh=&slide=11&cycle=off&scale=0&design=default&total=37 Once you get the old shifter control knob off the shifter control lever, which requires much strength, the rest is cake. You MUST be sure to counteract the force applied when twisting the old knob off. If not, you may damage your control lever, socket, or rod. (See schematics.) You will want to have a new set of shifter bushings. (See schematics.) Your old ones, made of plastic, have probably worn away, causing your shifter to feel "floppy" when moving it side to side. With new bushings, your shifter will feel tight and brand new. You can get a set of bushings for under $5 from CourtesyParts.com, code Z32-SHIFTB. The bushings go into the collar that surrounds the bolt that holds the base of the shifter lever to the transmission control rod. You will need small hands to reattach that bolt from inside the cockpit. I actually went up from underneath the car to slide the bolt back in. The car must be on lifts to do this because your arm doesn't bend that way. Cheers!

What makes fast car wheels?

A short stroke Nissan engine with a high performance transmission. That makes a car's wheels fast. Or an engine with High torque.

Are supercharger kits made for a 1991 Nissan 300ZX non-turbo?

In short, no. There are a few people that have custom built supercharger kits for the 300ZX, using both roots- and centrifugal-type superchargers. But no ready-made kits are available, as far as I know. And I been looking. The general consensus is that supercharging the VG30DE is a waste of time, and that turbos are far superior.

How much horsepower does a short shifter add?

Does not effect engine's output.

Do you need a smaller boot for a short throw shifter?

"Short Throw" really is talking about the distance the shifter has to travel between shifting not necissarily the height of the shifter. In that case, no you don't need a different boot. Now put on a "shorter" shifter, which in case does not mean a new boot, because the boots are made of a flexible material and will fit a shorter shifter. If you put on a taller shifter, anything higher than 4 inches greater than factory, will need a custom made boot.

Can you make a short shifter on a 240sx?

yes you can do this yourself by taking out the shifter and cutting it shorter with a saw. but then you will need to re-thread the shifter in order to screw a knob on. unless you have a knob that attaches itsself to the shifter with screws on the side. this is a ghetto way of doing it, but will work. or if you have $100-$200 to spend, simply buy a cimplete new short shifter off ebay, or anywhere and install it yourself which is a pretty simple job. take off the dash surrounding the shifter by popping it outwith a flat-head screw driver or your fingers. unattach the shift boot (the leather-like material surrounding the shifter. from here, you will be able to see the top of your transmission, where the shifter goes in. unscrew the plate on top of the transmission, and slide out the whole shifter. simply repeat this process in reverse to install your new aftermarket short shifter, making absolutely sure you are putting in the white plastic bushing at the end of the shifter that goes into the transmission, which ensures that it is secure and there is no play in the shifter.

How do you change the shift knob on a 2003 tiburon with a manual trans?

You should just unscrew it off the shifter. It might be on there tight, but it should just screw off. I put the stock shifter knob on my B&M short throw shifter

What makes a 1986 Nissan d21 engine floods when key is on?

sounds like you have a short in the wiring to your fuel pump! clean all contacts and check for proper grounds...

What is short shift?

This is a shifter to a manual transmission. It is shorter than the normal shifter, and it allows for better maneuvering and shifting ability. It also improves the cars performance because it eliminates the extra time betweeen shifing.

A short circuit. Look through your connections to your 'lights' and make sure there are no short circuits. If you want to know about short circuits see related links below.
