Are epiphone guitars made in the same factory as Gibson guitars?

Epiphone was a company all it's own at one time, owned by a luthier, and named after is son, "Epi." As Epiphone made quality instruments, Gibson purchased the rights to the name, at which point Gibson became responsible for the construction of Epiphone Guitars. But, Epiphone makes Epiphone guitars, not Gibson. Gibson is only responsible for providing the materials and the construction regulations. Some would even choose an Epiphone over a Gibson.

∙ 15y agoGibson guitars are made in the USA. Epiphone guitars are made overseas in Korea, China and other places. So, no, Epi and Gibby are not made in the same factory.

In respect to the current manufacturing of Epiphone Guitars, No they are well made instruments. In the beginning when Gibson purchased Epiphone were made to be starter/student level guitar made inexpensively in Asia and Japan. As the cost of labor and materials increased in the Japanese manufacturers, Gibson moved the process to Korea. As Gibson had decided to build an actual Epiphone plant in China 99% of Epiphone are made the State of the Art factory in Quing Dao. The Korean and Japanese Epis are of master quality as you will find in the Ultra series guitars. As of Late the quality of the Chinese made are equal to USA (IMO) as Gibson has planned the Epi factory to be a premier maker.

yes, in fact there is! they also make them in china and japan. but do not worry about the quality of the guitar cuz its still a Gibson guitar. Gibson also makes its Epiphone brand guitars in Asia. in my mind, Gibson `s that are made in the USA and Japan are a little better in sound than a Gibson`s from china. Chinese Gibson guitars are built to get the point across, but not to the true Gibson feel. so if you get one made there dont worry about the sound or looks. I mean A Gibson Is A Gibson.
What are the most common types of guitars?
Probably the Stratocaster (Most famosuly made by Fender, or Squire, Fender's sister company), Les Paul (Gibson or Epiphone) and an SG (Gibson or Epiphone). Apart from these, classic flying V's, Firebirds, and randy rhoads. :)

Does Gibson makes guitars in china?
No. All the Gibson-branded guitars, be it a $480 Melody Maker or a $15k artist signature Les Paul, were/are made in the USA. I think their sub brand guitars, including those that are sold at Walmart, are manufactured outside the US and some of them may well be made in China.
Why are epiphones cheaper than Gibsons?
Epiphone is very much similar to Gibson, at a cheaper price. Epiphone is owned by Gibson. Gibson makes Epiphone to give guitarists a Gibson feel, at a lower price, without sacrificing quality. Epiphone has some models of its own that Gibson doesn't, and Epiphone makes guitars with the same basic body shape and with some similar technology, hardware and electrical components. I own two Epiphones and a Les Paul, but I dont see any difference in quality between the two brands. I guess it just depends on sound taste. Gibson has a warmer feel to it, while Epiphone has a sharper sound. So basically think of Epiphone as a little brother of Gibson.
