There are many different kinds of keyboards but for the most part just about anyone can make use of one. For the slim keyboards that fit in your hand if that's what your referring to, they're used mostly by gamers.
They can be used for many things where an alphabetic keyboard is problematic (e.g. point of sale systems, classrooms for young children, people with handicaps).
You would find a concept keyboard mainly in fast food restaurants eg. McDonalds as they use the symbols to make ordering faster and easier.
maybe in a university school or college and maybe even on your computer! Also, they are hard to use.

A concept keyboard is (usually) a tablet with multiple buttons that can be assigned custom tasks. As in digital painting, an artist can assign different tools and colors to the keyboard. If any, the software that comes with it will coordinate what program is assigned to what key.
The type of keyboard that is useful in fast food restaurantsis called the Concept Keyboard. The concept keyboard usually has images on it for easy navigation.

input
A concept keyboard is a flat board which contains a grid of switches. Each switch can be programmed to do whatever you want. An overlay image is placed on top of the grid so that the user can tell what pressing on different areas (switches) will do. Example uses of concept keyboards include :Games for young children : The overlay image could be a picture of a farmyard. Pressing on an animal would cause the computer to make the noise the animal does.Tills in restaurants/pubs : The overlay contains a list of all the meals that can be sold. Instead of typing in prices the waiter simply presses the keyboard where the meals/drinks he is serving are listed.Concept keyboards are particularly useful for people who would find using an ordinary keyboard difficult and in locations where an ordinary keyboard might be damaged, e.g. by spillage or dust.
