Parts of the Great Wall was already built by the various warring states before the first emperor of China, Qin Shi-Huang united China. However, Qin Shi Huang connected the various walls of different states and extended it, and hence often he is known as the person who built the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall was subsequently extended in other dynasties like the Ming Dynasty.

∙ 11y agoThe wall was ordered built by whatever warlord or emperor happened to be in charge at the time. The labor was done by peasants, soldiers, and whomever else who was able to be conscripted. In the earliest years, the people would have used clay. Later, bricks were used. As the workers died, they were buried near the wall.
The first segments were built in the fifth century BC and the last contributions of the Great wall of China where build in the sixteenth century AD.
