John and Paul. They overdub their voices nine times.
Basically, it wasn't their project. The Beatles had signed a three-movie deal with United Artists, but had lost interest after Help!. They had also licensed King Features Syndicate to do a cartoon show featuring their images and music, but didn't like the results. (Lennon's opinions softened years later; he told a friend in the 1970s "I still get a blast out of watching those old Beatles cartoons on TV.") When the producers of the cartoon approached them about doing Yellow Submarine, they agreed because it would give United Artists the third movie they'd agreed to do. They contributed ideas for the jokes and storyline, but otherwise had little to do with the production of the movie. (They were mostly busy trying to get Apple Corps off the ground.) The new songs they contributed were mostly leftovers from other projects; it became almost a running joke among them, that if a session went badly, they'd save the song recorded "for the film". (Apparently "Hey Bulldog" was deliberately made for it, but the sequence was deleted from the American print; the producers thought it made the program run too long, for the American audience's patience.) It was only after the Beatles saw a rough cut of the movie, and were impressed by its visual and technical quality, that the Beatles agreed to do a live cameo for the ending.
Three-part harmony, overdubbed three times to give them nine voices. The song is based loosely on Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata".
To me The temptations for sure. For several meanings 1)There songs have a lot more meaning, and there a lot sweeter. 2)the lyrics match the song very much. 3) there voices are unbelievable! 4) and nothing that has anything to do with the music, they were more friendly, they loved and cared for each other. (not that i am not a beatles fan, I love the beatles). (i just think that the temptations are more lovely).
In the 1968 film, Geoffrey Hughes voiced Paul McCarthy, John Clive voiced John Lennon, Paul Angelis voiced Ringo Starr, and both Peter Bratten and Angelis voiced George Harrison. The Beatles themselves did the singing voices.
King Features Syndicate did a cartoon show about the Beatles, featuring their music but other people doing their speaking voices. The band hated the show. When the producers (Dunning and Brodax) approached them about doing a feature-length cartoon, the Beatles agreed to it because they still owed United Artists a movie; after Help!, they didn't want to appear in another one themselves. (Magical Mystery Tour was a TV special, not made for UA... and it bombed.) The Beatles contributed ideas, and some leftover songs to give the movie new material; their speaking voices were again supplied by actors. When the band saw the rough cut of the movie they liked it, and agreed to appear in a live epilogue to the story. In the 1970s, Lennon's opinion of the cartoon show softened, and he admitted to a friend that he got "a blast out of watching those old Beatles cartoons on TV." His son Sean saw Yellow Submarine at his babysitter's house, recognized his dad, and came home asking about the Beatles. Lennon explained that yes, he'd been one, but he gave that up to be with Sean.

The Beatles did themselves all of the voices. They are very talented. I am 12 and an OBSESSED with the beatles. I know everything about them. __________________________________________________________________ EDIT: Um, actually you're wrong, The Beatles did not in fact provide their own voices for Yellow Submarine. Their voice actors are as follows: John Clive: John Lennon Paul Angelis: Ringo Starr/George Harrison* Geoffrey Hughes: Paul McCartney *George's voice for the first half of the film was provided by Peter Batten. Peter Batten was discovered to be a deserter of the British Army, and was arrested during recording. Paul Angelis then provided George's voice for the rest of the movie. I also happen to be 12, and I also happen to be a HUGE Beatles fan. Funny how things work out.
