The Queen's representative exercises executive powers on the advice of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada (i.e., ministers responsible to the elected House of Commons).
The head of Government in The Right Honourable Stephen Harper P.C., M.P. (Calgary-Southwest), the Prime Minister. As the leader of the party that commands a majority of votes in the elected House of Commons, Harper is the chief advisor to the Crown and there, in practical terms, wields executive power in Canada.
