Many presidents had a part in making the National Park System but President Woodrow Wilson was the president who signed the bill which created the National Park Service. President Theodore Roosevelt is credited with having had the most influence over the creation of national parks and national forests in the US.
President Andrew Jackson created the first national park around Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1832, but it wasn't really considered to be a national park and was more of just a preserve.
On March 1, 1872, President Ulysses S. Grant signed the bill creating Yellowstone Park. Teddy Roosevelt actively campaigned to have it made a park but he wouldn't become president for almost 30 years.
On October 1, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed into law a bill creating Yosemite National Park along with Sequoia National Park and General Grant National Park.
