Well all the members of one direction (Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne) all auditioned for the xfactor UK as solo artists but they went out in Boot Camp but the judges brought them back and asked if they wanted to form a band and continue the competition. They got through the judges houses and went to the live shows they went to the end and came 3rd in the whole Competition and the rest is history. It was the judges who put them together!
