Who uses a compass?
A hiker, climber, travelers, pilots, and people not knowing which way out of the four directions. Also, someone with a map.
From what I know, there are three types of compasses. There is the original chines compass which is also known as the magnetic compass. there is also another compass called the gyrocompass. there's another one known as the astrocompass, and one also known as the box compass. ++++ It's a bit simpler than that. Magnetic compass, gyrocompass (which uses the inertia of a spinning flywheel) and electronic versions based on satellite navigation systems. The heading…
Lensatic Compass is a kind of compass which uses a magnetized dial, a lensatic compass features a special card which helps the users in reading the directions easily. A Lensatic Compass is very useful device because it has numbers which are useful in identifying the directions of target objects. The use of Lensatic Compass involves difficulties in using it.It is important to learn how to use a lensatic compass properly prior to using it, also…
Why would it be more beneficial to have a star chart rather than a compass if you were lost on the moon?
It would be more beneficial to have a star chart than a compass because a compass only works on earth. The compass uses the magnetic field that is generated by the north side of the earth. On the moon, there is no strong magnetic field on the north side, making a compass useless in finding your way back.
A compass uses magnetic fields to direct the needle which points north. From this we derive South or East or west. add. In detail, your compass knows nothing of the Earth's North or South (magnetic) Poles. It aligns itself with the lines of magnetic force at your locality. megnate in compass oppose the megnate of the earth.
The Compass of Light is found beneath the altar of the Tower of Spirits. It is a special golden compass that uses the power of the Spirits of Good and has the ability to track the location of the Demon Train. You can go on youtube and they walkthroughs to show you how to get it. I haven't played that game in years so I wouldn't be any helpful. -Zelda Wiki
The answer is in the question. Current in a conductor causes a magnetic field. A compass uses a magnetised needle to align with the earths magnetic field. Like poles repel, opposite poles attract. The magnetic needle in a compass will act like any other magnet and will be attracted to another magnet.
There are compass systems using MEMS. MEMS means micro electromechanical systems. The MEMS compass system uses a vibrating structure gyroscope to operate. Most MEMS inertial navigation systems have integrated GPS. The very sophisticated ones are independent to prevent jamming, they use computers and an accelerometer as well as a MEMS gyroscope to operate.
A magnetic compass uses the poles of our planet to stay in alignment. A Gyroscopic compass is set to a particular direction and tends to try to stay that way. After time, even the best Gyro will start to precess (move). This means the you will need to compare your Gyro to the magnetic every 15 minutes or so. Some modern gyroscopic compasses are capable of auto resetting to do this update automatically.
