Judah was the fourth son of Jacob and Leah. He was the founder of the Tribe of Judah. Together with his brothers Judah conspired to kill his brother Joseph, but because of his brother Rueben's pleas they decided to throw him into a pit instead. The brothers had become jealous of Joseph because he was their father's favorite son and due to his dreams in which he rules over his brothers. When his brother Joseph returns he is a high ranking official. Joseph pretends to threaten his brother Benjamin. Judah begs for his brother Benjamin's life and that is when Joseph reveals his true identity.
