No mummies have ever been found in an Egyptian pyramid. Surprised? A couple of bodies have been found in pyramids, which are not at all contemporaneous with the pyramid itself. Unlucky grave robbers perhaps. They were found in passageways, with no obvious ceremony. I see an answer to a different question related to this one about what else was in the pyramids. Treasures and such is given as the answer, this is not true. The rooms full of gold and cloth and other people buried with pharaohs are in the valley of the kings, a system of crypts hundreds of miles from the Giza pyramid complex. No significant "treasures" have been found in the pyramids. A few of the pyramids have writing, "The Pyramid Texts", but these are much later than the
Giza pyramid. The closest thing to a contemporary writing about the Giza pyramids that exists is called the Inventory Stela, where Khufu seems to be stating he did restoration on the Sphinx, (supposedly built by his son) and a nearby pyramid, supposedly built by Khufu. Hmm, something doesn't quite make sense here. The real answer? No one quite knows. btw, the Inventory Stela is a copy made approx. 2000 years after Khufu's time, not an original. Ergo, no contemporaneous mention of the Giza pyramids, or the Sphinx statue exist.
