What was the economic and cultural impact of penicillin?

Impacts Technological Penicillin is not something that you would necesarilly connect with having an impact on Technology. But, it had such a positive effect on society that the benefits eventually trickled down to the technological world. People now lived longer, healthier lives. This means that maybe the guy who invented computers lived merely because after getting a bad infection he took penicillin. Therefore we would not necessarily have computers if it wasn't for the discovery of this natural antibiotic. Economic Penicillin did have more of an impact on the economy. People lived long and the population grew rapidly. Along with the influx of people came the economy. This also helped industries who employed a large number of people. Now that people knew more about cleanliness and infections they were able to treat and prevent illnesses and work longer. Environmental The impact on the environment may not appear to be something grand, but if you consider the people and animals around you as a major part of the environment then Penicillin is a super hero. The drug save so many lives and continues to be used to treat, prevent, and help those who are ill. It not only helps humans, but is also used to treat your dog and many other family pets. Some people do have allergic reactions to the drug and it may not have specifically benefitted their lives. But, because of penicillin people's entire views where changed concerning life and that has had an impact on everyone.
