Tony Earl (born April 12, 1936 in Lansing, Michigan) succeeded Lee Sherman Dreyfus as the forty-first Governor of Wisconsin, serving between January 3, 1983 and January 5, 1987. Following the end of Earl's term as Governor, Tommy Thompson (born November 19, 1941 in Elroy, Wisconsin) became the forty-second Governor of Wisconsin, serving between January 5, 1987 and February 1, 2001.
