The British commander was General Thomas Gage. In 1774 he was appointed the military governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay (Massachusetts) under the laws known as the Intolerable Acts. After troops arrived from England and the battle of Bunker Hill was fought (June 17, 1775), Gage received word of his recall as commander on September 26, 1775. He was replaced by General William Howe, but nominally retained his governorship of Massachusetts.

The American Commander in Lexington and Concord was Commander Walter Laurie. The British Commander of the battle was General Thomas Gage. On April 19. 1775, war erupted at Lexington and Concord, two country towns west of Boston. Thomas Gage provoked the battles by sending troops at arrest Hancock and Adams in Lexington and to seize Patriot weapons stockpiled in Concord. Tipped off by men, including Paul Revere, who had ridden into the countryside to warn of the approaching British troops with his famous words, "The Redcoats are coming! The Redcoats are coming!", the local Patriots rallied to drive the troops back to Boston. The Patriot fighters were militia (full-time farmers and part-time soldiers.) By morning, about 70 soldiers gathered on Lexington. As the British soldiers appeared, the the British Commander called for the militia to disperse. As this happened, someone fired a shot (known as the "shot heard all around the world") and in the end, 8 Patriots died. Then, as some of the Patriots retreated, the minutemen started to fire, using better fighting tactics than the British. In the end, the Patriots had killed or wounded more than 200 British soldiers. I am happy to pass on this knowledge and I hope that you find a good use for it.
