While there are a number of "Fifth Symphonies," by far the most well known is Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. A symphony is a themed collection of pieces of music, composers didn't "name" them in the Pop Music sense but gave them titles according to the key in which they are written i.e. "Symphony in C", however once you have written more than one symphony in the same key it becomes necessary to number them, so a "fifth symphony" is the fifth symphony written by a composer.
I never thought it had a name, like some of the others (Eroica, Pastoral, Choral) but on reading the booklet inside my DGG 9 symphonies box set (Karajan) SKL101/8 it makes a passing comment to it being called the "Destiny Symphony" after a story by "Schindler" that Beethoven himself described the opening of thefirst movement as "Fate knocking at the door!" Ever since it has supposed to represent fate, both personal and universal.
So there y'are ! I didn't know till I stumbled on that one in that booklet
Emperor Concerto

i'm no expert but the fith symphony is quite political and its the first symphony to weave together the four movements in a clear and coherent manner. having said that i dont believe this symphony is the turning point in Beethovens music, himself or the classical repotoir. i believe it started earlier. but i suppose psychologically it is an early advancement to the 9th symphony and thereafter the birth of the Romantic period. the fith symphony provides the blurring lines and window from the classical period to the rromantic
