Jesus lived and preached Judaism as God (aka Jesus in the flesh) meant it to be. Millions have chosen to obey and try to emulate him, albeit with varying degrees of motivation, commitment and success. IMHO, this makes Jesus its most famous proponent, but the most famous follower of Judaism before Jesus was Moses, and after Jesus the most famous follower was probably the Apostle Paul who became a Christian:-
Php 3:4 ... If any other thinks that he has reason to trust in the flesh, I more.
Php 3:5 I was circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews. As regards the Law, I was a Pharisee;
Php 3:6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness in the Law, blameless.
Php 3:7 But whatever things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Php 3:8 But no, rather, I also count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them to be dung, so that I may win Christ
Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, AKA Moses Maimonides, AKA Rambam, is one of the most famous and influential Jewish scholars.
The religion is Judaism, the person who follows Judaism is a Jew.
There are thousands of examples, but we may list Maimonides (Rambam), and Moses Montefiore.
No, it is the reverse. A Jew is a follower of Judaism.

The Christian Religion, of which Catholicism is the most widespread denomination, is an offshoot of Judaism. The term 'Jew' can either mean a member of the Jewish ethnic group, or a follower of Judaism. The vast majority of Catholics, unlike Jesus, do not have any significant Jewish ancestry.
