This is an extremely complicated question considering the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame didn't open until 1983. Before this there were specific museums. Several businessmen (mostly in the music industry started the above with backers from Asia, etc.) Unfortunately, the war is on. While some performers were entered right into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame many weren't and thus, even today the fight for nominees to be inducted into the Hall of Fame goes on to this day. A certain Board decides who belongs in the Rock 'N Roll hall of fame and since the Blacks invented Rock 'n Roll (Elvis Presley put a big twist on it) and was a combination of rhythm and blues, no one can decide who belongs and some are over looked for various reasons. You will unfortunately have to do your own homework on this because it's so complex, but it's interesting and here's a couple of sites to get you started. www.soul-patrol.com/funk/blk_rock.htm

http://historicaltextarchive.com/links.php?op+viewslink&sid=0&cid=15 If you have problems with the above go onto: www.google.com and type in: History of Rock 'n Roll

Out of these, five will be honored at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on March 10, 2008: * Afrika Bambaataa * Beastie Boys * Chic * Leonard Cohen * The Dave Clark Five * Madonna * John Mellencamp * Donna Summer * The Ventures Rock 'N Roll started in the early 1950s and was every teens dream come true and every parent's nightmare. 'It was the work of the devil' and most (even in the Rock 'N Roll business) never thought that it would last, but it does to this day. Many of the newer artists take a little of the good old 'Rock 'n Roll' and twist it into some of their songs. Many of the artists (especially the blacks, but also whites) didn't realize when they signed up with record labels that they could lose royalties (extra money) and that they did. Even the movie 'Ghost' with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze where the Righteous Bros. sung the theme song lost royalties on that song. Every time a song is played on the radio, TV, in a movie the artist should get royalties off it. Now, with the Hall of Fame many of the music artists are fighting for the 'oldies but goodies' of Rock 'N' Roll which made it all happen.
