∙ 10y agoThe first Europeans to settle in what is now Canada would be the Vikings around 1000AD with a settlement in today's Newfoundland. They also had at least one outpost on Baffin Island but it does not appear they tried to settle there, rather it was likely a trading outpost used only in the summer.
