Who was the first jazz group to mix jazz and rock?
Miles Davis is generally considered the forerunner of fusion jazz, which combined jazz instrumentation with rock's electric instruments. His "electric era" began in 1968, and his first fusion album, "In a Silent Way," was released in 1969.
A British group called Soft Machine also began developing fusion jazz around the same period. Their second album, "Volume II," features lengthy jazz improvisations played loudly on electric instruments. Live recordings of the group playing these pieces live before the release of their second album arguably makes them the first jazz fusion group.
contemporary means new... therefore, contemporary jazz is the new style of jazz but contemporary is basically a mix of all of the dance styles combined. Mainly, it is a combination of lyrical, jazz and hip-hop. Lyrical being a mix of jazz and ballet. So I guess you could say contemporary dance or modern dance is a mix of all the style combined. (except tap)
Well... Contemporary Jazz is pretty much Jazz Lyrical. It is modern (contemporary) dance with some jazz in the mix. It is usually to soft or medium soft music and the choreography flows. It may have a Jazzy feel to it, or it may not. Contemporary Jazz has more options for themes, choreography, style, ETC. Personally, I believe that Contemporary Jazz or Jazz Lyrical is a fun class to take and teach!:)

The Beatles' originally would call themselves a rock and roll band; they essentially would only play rock and roll mixed with occasional ballads - their early LPs contained this kind of mix. However, as their success grew they started playing different types of music; country, folk, jazz, classical and it became very difficult to tie down the "style" of the Beatles.
No, it originated in America, when white performers began imitating black performers (in a natural way, not in a theatrical or comical way), and black performers made more music for white listeners. Country, blues and jazz merged, and the mix became rock-n-roll. British sailors visiting the US heard the music, and carried records of it back with them.
