Make up was discovered by the Egyptians, because they used to wear black eyeliner because they didn't want the sand in their eyes. After that it turned into a beauty statement. And it got evolved with a few tweaks.
When makeup started the women would actually want to be white so they would use lead and other stuff to make a powder to make them white. Women also would try to not tell anybody their secret "recipe's" (of makeup) because they didn't want people to look as good or better than themselves.

∙ 13y agoActually the application of what we know today as makeup was discovered by the Egyptians around 5,000 BC. Wealthy women were said to color their skin with yellow pigmented clay. The Egyptians had quite an influence on everything in our society today. And if you research further the history of makeup and follow how it changed and evolved, you would be fascinated.
