I believe this answer is inaccurate. Ford invented the assembly line mode of production. I'm sorry but I don't know who invented the automobile.

Henry Ford invented the MOVING assembly line.

Karl F. Benz is credited with building the first gasoline powered vehicle in 1865-86.
