Vice-President Aaron Burr killed his political rival Alexander Hamilton in a duel in Weehawken, NJ, resulting from a published letter that implied Hamilton had made derogatory comments about Burr's character. A bullet fired by Aaron Burr during their duel on July 11, 1804.

The bullet hit one of his ribs, wrecked the organs in his lower abdomen, and eventually crashed into his spine. He died the next morning from the injuries.
