i think it was napoleon . . .
EDIT:
First, Napoleon was French, from the country that had been Britain's mortal enemy for centuries. Second, King George III was the King of England during the American Revolution.
King George III. He also wrote in his diary on July 4th 1776 that "nothing of great significance happened today"
The British government taxed the American colonists to an extreme and treated them unfairly. The colonists even drew up a document stating their grievances against the King and when it was ignored they rebelled. But it was mainly taxes.
With a really good King or Queen and a bunch of loyal followers.
Some reasons of why the colonists rebelled against the British were: 1. The Boston Massacre 2. Taxation without Representation 3. Intolerable Acts 4. Proclamation of 1763 5. The Stamp Act 6. The Quartering Acts 7. The Sugar act

The colonists rebelled and refused to pay the taxes, which led to the Revolutionary War.AnswerThe British Parliament felt justified in charging the colonists for the costs involved in ruling them. They would be called rebels
The colonists were British and when they declared independence they were seen as traitors by the king.
The Stamp Act of 1765 was imposed by the British Parliament on the colonies of North America to pay for the seven years war. The British Govermment thought that the Colonies would benefit from the Military presence and therefore should pay for a portion of the expence. There were no colonists elected to the British Parliament and so for Parliament to tax the colonists was seen as a violation of the British Constitution. The British Constitution guaranteed that British subjects should not be taxed without their consent. So this tax was a violation of the Constitutiuon. The colonists rebelled and declared - 'no taxation without representation'. The colonists rebelled with force and the Act could not be imposed and was repealed 17th March 1766

The British changed their economic and political policies towards the colonists from 1763 to 1775 because of the rebellion shown by the colonists. The British tried to impose their financial burden due to British wars on the colonists via various ways including taxes but the colonists rebelled.

I have never read they did. You have to remember that ALL were British subjects and the revolution was treason against the king. The colonies were British and so were the colonists.
The colonists wanted freedom from a king who allowed them no representaion yet overtaxed them. The British wanted to keep "their" colony.
