The political leader of Austria-Hungary during World War 1 was Franz Josef.

Extra info:

His only son killed himself because he didn't want to marry this princess from another kingdom because she was UGLY so Franz Josef's nephew Franz Ferdinand became the Archduke (the heir) but he was assassinated by a Serbian member of a group called the Black Hand at a parade in Bosnia (Serbia and Bosnia are neighbors and REALLY hated each other) and that is what started World War 1.
