Considering that the Cold War remained "cold" from 1945 to 1991, (with the exception of Korea and Vietnam and a few other places), almost everyone survived the Cold War. The number of deaths was in the hundreds of thousands, but, not as much as a nuclear World War III between the USA and Russia.

Millions of people around the world survived. The Germans and Japanese lost but they did survive along with millions of Allied and some Axis forces. Civilians around the world survived despite the death of 71 million people. It did not matter what country you were from if you were not dead you had survived even if it had been nearly impossible. Many Jews were able to survive and relocate to other countries, including Israel.
